As most alarming events that take place in the Park Cities are, the visits of a Bobcat have been noted on the “Park Cities Chatter” Facebook page by many concerned Park Cities residents. The Bobcat has been spotted all over both University Park and Highland Park on streets including Stanford, Villanova, Beverly, and Asbury.

Most commonly seen lounging on house fences, the Bobcat has also been noted to leisurely roam down streets and crawl into sewers around SMU campus. If you happen to see a Bobcat, you should: protect small children and pets, back away slowly (running can trigger a pursuit response), and spray it with water if possible.

Opinions on how to handle the Bobcat situation vary. Some Park Cities Chatter residents want to set a trap for it while others believe it deserves to be free. One Facebook user even joked about sending over their hunting-enthusiastic family member to the area where it was spotted.

While searching on Facebook for information on the Bobcat predicament, I noticed that it is not the first time that the Park Cities has encountered this dilemma. According to past Facebook posts, Bobcats have also been spotted in the Park Cities in the summers of 2020 and 2021. Based on this reoccurring event, it is safe to say that the Park Cities can expect a visit from our furry friend the same time next year.
